Academic Medicine – Core Faculty
The Tidelands Health MUSC Family Medicine Residency Program is an 8-8-8 family medicine residency in its second year. We are seeking core faculty to teach the next generation of family medicine physicians in the Myrtle Beach area. One position is family medicine, and one is family medicine/OB. C-section a plus; OB back-up in place. Clinical site is a new, 24-room facility. The teaching hospital is in Murrells Inlet. Tidelands Health has three hospitals with nearly 300 beds and more than 50 outpatient locations in the service area.
Advanced Practitioners – Hospitalist and Family Medicine – Experienced
We are seeking physician assistants and nurse practitioners to join health system-employed practices. Our primary care practices are growing and in need of several APs to work with primary care physicians and providers in the Murrells Inlet and Myrtle Beach areas. Typically, our APs work in a practice of three to five providers with full staff and specialty support. Experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
Also, we are recruiting APs to join our hospitalist service – one to two years’ experience required. We are adding APs to the service in 2018-19 as our needs in Georgetown and Murrells Inlet grow. Shifts are days -- seven on and seven off or weekdays temporarily as the program develops. Full-scope inpatient services in med-surg areas. Our three hospitals have nearly 300 beds. Our ERs have 65,000 visits per year. Full specialty support locally and with tertiary partners in Myrtle Beach and Charleston.

Cardiology – General and Interventional
Our health system-employed practice is part of our multispecialty practice group. The full-scope practice located in Pawleys Island includes general cardiologists, interventionalists and NPs. Physicians cover hospitals in Murrells Inlet and Georgetown, both 10 miles from the practice. Full diagnostics at the practice. This practice provides inpatient coverage at both hospitals. Interventional work is performed in the cath labs in Georgetown. An MUSC EP physician also works in affiliation with Tidelands Health.
Certified Nurse Midwife
We are recruiting one certified nurse midwife to join our health system-employed women’s health practice to help serve the outpatient and inpatient needs of our growing communities. Join one other CNM and four full-time OB/GYNs, including a urogynecologist, in providing full-scope midwifery services in our clinic in Myrtle Beach. According to the Census Bureau, the Myrtle Beach market is the second fastest growing in the country. OBs also have a clinic in Georgetown. Labor and delivery services are provided at both Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital and Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Total births around 1,000 annually. This new clinic has 10 exam rooms dedicated to OB/GYN. Clinic hours are M-F, 8-5. This is also the location of our new family medicine residency program. There is ample opportunity to teach in this academic setting. Shared call with other CNMs.
Emergency Medicine - 2019
We have an opportunity to join a private emergency medicine group of 12 physicians in mid-2019. This group provides full emergency medicine services for Tidelands Health at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital and Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. This position is primarily a 10-hour night/evening shift. Group is board- certified emergency and family medicine physicians. NPs and Pas in the emergency department are heath system-employed. EDs have 21 bays at each hospital. These are non-trauma centers with more than 65,000 visits per year that use local hospitalists for admissions. ICUs on site with full med/surg services, full imaging, lab services and specialty support. Trauma referrals with Grand Strand Health in Myrtle Beach and with Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Opportunities in Horry and Georgetown counties at our health system-owned family medicine practices. No inpatient work and full specialty support for referrals. Busy from the start in growing practices. Locations include established practices in Murrells Inlet and Myrtle Beach and a new multispecialty center being built in The Market Common area of Myrtle Beach to be completed summer 2019. Future growth is also expected in Georgetown. Practices range from two to five physicians, all with at least one PA or NP. Experienced physicians and new graduates welcome.
We are seeking full-time gastroenterologists to practice at several of our locations. Our offices have five physicians and three advanced practitioners, and the goal is to add one more AP. Endoscopy, clinic and follow-up responsibilities are rotated evenly among the physicians and practitioners—covering outpatient only. This includes practicing in two locations; however, the majority of time would be spent at the Murrells Inlet practice office. We are constructing a brand new 65,000-square-foot multispecialty facility in The Market Common, a fast-growing residential and commercial neighborhood in Myrtle Beach. This facility will include a full gastroenterology practice and endoscopy suite. We are seeking general gastroenterologists; ERCP skills would be welcomed (no EUS). Hospitalist Medicine – Days and Nights
Our physicians are health system-employed at both Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. We are adding new hospitalists to the service of 11 physicians with NPs and PAs to be added in 2018. Full-scope inpatient services with about 125 beds at each hospital. ICUs primarily covered by hospitalists, with CCM physicians providing consults. Average patient load of 15-20 per physician. Shifts are primarily days but could include some nights. Also seeking a full time nocturnist, seven on and seven off. Busy emergency departments with more than 65,000 visits per year. Our hospitals are stroke certified. Full specialty support locally and with tertiary partners in Myrtle Beach and Charleston. New family medicine and internal medicine graduates with adequate training are welcome to apply. Full- time or part-time positions available.
Hospitalist - Nocturnist
We are recruiting full-time hospitalists to practice at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital and Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Each hospital has about 125 beds. We are recruiting either family medicine physicians with hospitalist experience or internal medicine physicians. We will consider new internal medicine graduates. Shifts are days, 7 a.m.-7 p.m., seven on and seven off or nights, 7 p.m.-7 a.m., seven on and seven off. Our experienced, healthy-system employed hospitalist group is 12 physicians and growing, and the goal is for the hospitalist practice to have four advanced practitioners. Open ICU coverage with consulting intensivists; full specialty support and diagnostics on site. Additional support from specialists at MUSC in Charleston. To practice mainly at one hospital, but also can cover both hospitals, which are 22 miles apart.
Internal Medicine - Outpatient
Tidelands Health is growing its primary care practices in general internal medicine at outpatient locations in Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island, Georgetown and Myrtle Beach. Successful multispecialty practices, health system-owned and employed. Full hospitalist and specialty support. Full-time or part-time positions available. Tidelands Health is assisting a private practice group of seven physicians to meet growing demand. We are recruiting two full-time med/peds physicians. The practice is located in Pawleys Island and has 19 exam rooms and more than 10,000 square feet. The practice treats newborns, pediatric and adult patients at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. Equal call for hospital duties. Practice expects new physicians to see 22 to 25 outpatients per day. The practice uses eClinicalWorks for EHR. Full services available in practice including EKG, audiometry, holters, autoclave, CBC and telehealth. Expanding hours to meet patient need including some evenings and Saturdays. Full specialty support is provided at Tidelands Health, including adult and peds subspecialists from Charleston. Candidate will be trained in both pediatrics and adult medicine. We are recruiting two general neurologists as we grow a neurosciences practice in Murrells Inlet. Current neurosurgeon is employed by the Medical University of South Carolina located in Charleston, but practices in Murrells Inlet on the Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital campus. MUSC will add one advanced practitioner to the neurology practice in 2019.This is a full-scope neurosciences practice in new offices next to the hospital. This opportunity is primarily outpatient but also provides inpatient consultations in collaboration with teleneurology already in place. We are stroke certified at both hospitals and provide inpatient rehabilitation services at Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Hospital. Full specialty support is provided at our Tidelands Health hospitals. Experienced neurologists preferred.
Orthopedics – Surgical and Medical
We are seeking two general orthopedic surgeons, one surgical and one medical, for Georgetown (surgical) and Myrtle Beach (medical). Join our skilled team of six orthopedic surgeons in established and growing practices working with four PAs providing full orthopedic services. This group includes a hand surgeon and one surgeon who sees spine cases exclusively. Sports medicine services are covered by current providers. Offices have imaging on-site and are close to the hospitals at both locations. New surgical center opened with four ORs in Georgetown and a new ambulatory center, to include orthopedic outpatient services, will be completed in summer 2019 at The Market Common area of Myrtle Beach. These are health-system employed positions with specialty support. New physicians will be covering call at both hospitals; one primarily working in Georgetown and another in Myrtle Beach. Surgeries are performed at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital.
We are seeking one board-eligible or board-certified pain medicine physician to add to our team of two physicians and two PAs. Full-scope outpatient practice with medical and injection therapy. This physician would practice in Murrells Inlet at an established practice and would also practice at a new multispecialty facility under construction in The Market Common area of Myrtle Beach. The new facility will include full imaging services, lab, physical therapy, orthopedics, family medicine, internal medicine, GI, endoscopy, cardiology and expanded pain medicine services.
Carolina OB/GYN Opportunity
We are assisting with the recruitment of an OB/GYN for a private practice affiliated with Tidelands Health. This is a full-scope, established and growing practice of five physicians and three nurse midwives with a primary office in Murrells Inlet – right across from Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. Serving patients in Horry and Georgetown counties, the practice is expanding its services from part- time to full- time in Myrtle Beach with a facility close to the growing Market Common area, eight miles from the Murrells Inlet hospital. Carolina OB/GYN also has an office in Georgetown. The practice covers deliveries at Tidelands Health hospitals in Georgetown and Murrells Inlet with other hospital-employed OB/GYNs. Most deliveries are at the Murrells Inlet hospital and most services are in Murrells Inlet at the main practice location. Call is 1:6 shared equally among physicians. Collaborative practice with CNMs with an emphasis on centering pregnancy services. Main practice has 16 exam rooms with ultrasound; expanded practice in Myrtle Beach for new physician has six exam rooms and ultrasound.
Join a growing general surgery practice with three outpatient locations from Georgetown to Myrtle Beach. Our Myrtle Beach location is a 65,000 square foot multi-specialty facility to be completed in 2019. Each location has between three and six exam rooms. Tidelands Health is comprised of two hospitals where surgeries are performed. Tidelands Georgetown has new ORs that opened early in 2018. The goal for the practice is to have four BE/BC general surgeons and one advanced practitioner with call being 1:4. The surgeons will rotate between two of the three locations and cover both hospitals for full-scope general surgery, no trauma. Currently we do not have robotics.
We are recruiting three BE/BC general pediatricians as we grow a new pediatric program in our service area. Call will be 1:3. These positions are full-time, health system-employed positions. The physicians will cover two general hospitals 22 miles apart with light volume inpatients, unassigned admission call and light volume nursery/newborn coverage for all c-sections and high-risk births. Both hospitals have earned baby friendly designation, and Waccamaw Community Hospital is a certified child birth center of excellence. Both hospitals are a level 2 nursery. OB/GYNs and midwives are from health system-employed practices and non-employed practices.
This program will have 24 residents starting July 2019. The practice is eight miles from Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet. One of the pediatricians will teach academics in a faculty role, as well as cover some outpatient and inpatient needs. Two of the pediatricians will provide primarily outpatient and inpatient care with some teaching/precepting.
