High school students invited to apply for hands-on nursing event at Tidelands Health
Tidelands Health is encouraging high school juniors and seniors in Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties who are interested in pursuing a career in nursing to apply for the health system’s annual Nurses are Extraordinary event. 
The day-long event will give selected participants an opportunity to learn about the nursing profession, explore a variety of nursing specialties and discover the educational pathways available to those interested in entering the field.
The event will be held at two Tidelands Health locations:
Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital
- Monday, Sept. 28, 2026
- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital
- Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026
- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Students will be accepted for only one of the date offerings.
Through interactive learning experiences and conversations with health care professionals, students will gain firsthand insight into the rewards and responsibilities of a nursing career. Participants will also learn about the educational requirements and career opportunities available within the nursing profession.
"Nurses play a vital role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to our patients and communities," said Caitlyn Green, workforce development manager. "Through Nurses are Extraordinary, we hope to inspire the next generation of health care professionals by helping students better understand the many opportunities available in nursing."
Because of limited space, participation is competitive and requires an application. Students must submit a completed application, a letter of recommendation and an unofficial transcript by Sept. 14.
