Tidelands Health leader appointed to state workforce board 

Jeremy Stephens, executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Tidelands Health, has been appointed to the State Workforce Development Board. 

Jeremy Stephens The board drives the vision for the workforce system at the state level and advises the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce in establishing policies and procedures that strengthen the workforce system through partnership and collaboration, performance and accountability and continuous improvement. 

The 29-member board is made up of business leaders, elected leaders, workforce partners and representatives of community-based organizations. Appointed by the governor, members are decision-makers who are committed to creating a high-quality workforce system that connects employers to skilled workers and builds economic prosperity for all South Carolinians. 

With more than 30 years of human resources experience, Stephens joined Tidelands Health in 2017 and is responsible for establishing and implementing the strategic vision for the HR division, including recruitment of health care professionals and development of creative strategies to support the current health system workforce.  

He also has guided the implementation of innovative programs to help high school students get experience and training for a health care career through the health system’s unique partnerships with local schools and higher education institutions. 

Stephens earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Central Michigan University and previously worked for the state of Michigan and health systems in Michigan prior to joining Tidelands Health.
