The DAISY Award is a national program that celebrates nurses who go above and beyond to provide exceptional clinical care and heartfelt compassion. Honorees are nominated by patients, relatives of patients or fellow team members.

German-Cox, a licensed practical nurse with the nursing resource team, has provided exemplary care at Tidelands Georgetown since 1989. A team member who nominated her praised her unwavering dedication.

“Denise is extremely hardworking, compassionate and caring to every patient she encounters,” the nomination said. “It’s clear she loves her job and her patients. “Jess is truly a Godsend,” one patient wrote. “She genuinely loves her job, and it shows. You can see the joy it brings her to make patients smile.”

The national DAISY Award and the DAISY Foundation were established by the family of Patrick Barnes, who died of a rare autoimmune disease at the age of 33, to honor his memory and recognize nurses around the country who deliver extraordinary care.

“Our DAISY Award winners and nominees exemplify what it means to be a nurse – showing up each day with compassion, dedication and a positive spirit,” said Ashley Capps, vice president of operations and chief nursing officer. “Nursing is a calling to serve, and these individuals demonstrate that calling through the exceptional care they provide. Congratulations to all our honorees. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to helping people live better lives through better health.”
