Elks Lodge Murrells Inlet donates $10,000 to support cancer care at Tidelands Health

Tidelands Health has received a generous $10,000 donation from committee members at the Elks Lodge Murrells Inlet to support cancer care and initiatives in the community.

Elks Lodge Murrells Inlet members present oversized check for $10,000 to Tidelands Health for cancer care. The contribution will benefit the Tidelands Health Cancer Care Network, the region’s most advanced provider of cancer care and the exclusive MUSC Hollings Cancer Network member serving Horry and Georgetown counties.

“This generous gift from the Elks Lodge is a powerful example of how community support fuels hope and healing,” said Beth Conatser, director of philanthropy at Tidelands Health, a community-based, not-for-profit health system. “Every dollar helps us expand access to life-saving care, invest in the latest technology and support patients and families through every step of their cancer journey.”

The Tidelands Health Cancer Care Network offers advanced treatments at convenient, community-based locations, along with seamless access to the expertise and resources of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, South Carolina’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center.

Patients benefit from cutting-edge technology, including the region’s only 3T MRI, precision 3-D mammography and a TrueBeam linear accelerator. The network is also accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer.

“Everyone on the committee has had at least one family member, and most of us have multiple family members, who have been directly affected by different types of cancer,” said Colleen Riehl, chairman of Elks Lodge Murrells Inlet. “While we support the In the Pink breast cancer awareness walk every October, it was important to the members of the lodge that we recognize the other types of cancer."

As a not-for-profit health system, Tidelands Health relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations to help advance care and improve lives across our region. To learn more, visit tidelandshealth.org/philanthropy
