Tidelands Health nurse practitioner recognized by national organization for excellence
A nurse practitioner at Tidelands Health has been honored by a national organization as the South Carolina recipient of its annual award for excellence.
Kathleen Boone earned the 2021 State Award for Excellence from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. The award is given annually to a dedicated nurse practitioner in each state who demonstrates excellence in his or her area of practice. Boone was the only nurse practitioner in South Carolina to receive the award this year.
“It is rewarding to see a national organization honor Kathleen’s hard work, skill and commitment to providing excellent care to every patient,” said Brooke Howard, vice president of operations at Tidelands Health. “She is an asset at Tidelands Health, and we are so proud to have her on our team of medical professionals providing care to our community.”
Boone, who sees patients at Tidelands Health Family Medicine at Pawleys Island, has been a family nurse practitioner for more than 20 years. She earned her advanced nursing degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Nursing and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
“I truly love taking care of patients and helping them live better lives through better health,” Boone said. “I was drawn to primary care to develop relationships with patients over time to help improve their health and the health of the community. It is fulfilling to treat generations of families and develop long-term relationships with my patients.”
Boone will be recognized as the recipient of the 2021 State Award for Excellence from South Carolina during the AANP national conference this summer in California.
The American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the profession’s largest membership organization, represents the interests of the more than 290,000 licensed nurse practitioners in the United States.
