Tidelands Health offering blood drive Friday in Georgetown

Help save a life by donating blood during a Tidelands Health blood drive Friday in Georgetown.

The blood drive is set for Friday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Howard Gym and Auditorium, 1610 Hawkins St. in Georgetown. Tidelands Health is partnering with the American Red Cross to organize the blood drive.

Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment to donate blood by going to redcrossblood.org. Appointments will take priority, but walk-ins are welcome.

Blood donors must be healthy, at least 17 years old and weight at least 110 pounds. Be sure to bring a valid ID. Individuals who are feeling ill should postpone donating blood until they feel healthy and are symptom-free.

Blood drive organizers continue to take extra steps to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, including taking temperatures as donors arrive, offering additional hand sanitizer for donors, providing additional space between donors and frequently disinfecting surfaces.
