6 things you don’t want to miss at the Better Health Expo

Your day at the Women’s Leadership Conference won’t be complete until you’ve explored the Tidelands Health “Better! Be strong. Be healthy. Be you.” expo.

Better! expoThe interactive expo will be abuzz of activity boasting more than a dozen demonstrations, displays and hands-on activities throughout the day. You’ll have the chance to watch live healthy cooking demonstrations (and taste the samples), get basic health screenings, learn CPR and even make a souvenir for the day by stopping by our photo booth or creating a Valentine’s Day card.

“The Better! expo is all about you,” said Amy Stevens, vice president of marketing and communications for Tidelands Health. “You’ll have the chance to participate in a variety of activities and demonstrations to help you live your healthiest life and make the most of your day at the Women’s Leadership Conference.”

Hundreds are expected to attend the 10th Women’s Leadership Conference sponsored by Coastal Carolina University on Feb. 11 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. Participants will enjoy a lineup of regional and national speakers, small breakout sessions and the Tidelands Health expo.

Here are six things at the expo you don’t want to miss:

Better expoPampering | A few minutes of pampering can help relieve stress and nourish the soul. Stop by for a relaxing chair massage or a hand paraffin bath that will leave you with soft, silky hands.

Cooking demonstrations | Learn how to prepare healthy snacks with our live demonstrations in the Tidelands Health kitchen. You’ll even be able to taste a sample. Join us for the live demonstrations at 10:30 a.m. and 2:50 p.m.

Check your health | Take advantage of free, quick health checks for blood pressure and bone density, which can help determine if you’re at a higher risk of developing osteoporosis. Also, learn about the health screenings you should get for your age.

Better expoGet helpful health information | Need more information about probiotics and how they help digestive health? Want to learn more about women’s health – from birth control to menopause? Our team of experts will be available to answer your questions about these topics and more.

And be sure to catch our two breakout sessions:

  • “A Love Letter to your Heart: Taking Care of Your Ticker” | Learn about heart care signs and symptoms unique to women, presented by Sheryl Aiken, a doctor of nursing practice at Tidelands Health Heart and Vascular Specialists at The Market Common. Join us for this session at 11 a.m.
  • “When Kegels Aren’t Enough: Innovative Pelvic Health Therapies” | Learn the causes of the most common women’s abdominal and pelvic health issues and real solutions to help end pain and aggravation, presented by Dr. Eduardo Martinez and Donna Pagano, certified abdominal and pelvic health therapist. Join us for this session at 2:15 p.m.

Hands-on | You know you’re supposed to do your breast self-exams for cancer, but would you really know what a lump feels like? See if you can detect a lump at our cancer services display.

Or roll up your sleeves to learn the basics of how to perform CPR using a mannikin. You never know when you could save a life knowing this basic skill.

Make your own souvenir | Bring your besties and stop by our photo booth for a fun photo to remember the day. You can also get a jump on Valentine’s Day by making a custom card for someone special – we supply the materials, and you bring the love.
