Youth swim team program welcomes swimmers of all skill levels
Beginner and experienced swimmers alike can benefit from joining a “Tides” youth swim team at Tidelands HealthPoint Center for Health and Fitness.
Our region’s only medical fitness center has opened registration for the Tides swim team program. Membership to the center is not required to participate.
The program offers three youth swim teams organized around age and skill level. For beginning swimmers ages 6 and younger, the “Mini Tides” team focuses on building swimming technique and nurturing a love of the water. Participants must be able to swim at least 25 yards (one standard pool length) of the front and back crawl without stopping.
Children ages 7 and older can join the intermediate “Tides” swim team, which focuses on improving endurance and speed in a recreational, fun environment. Swimmers must be able to swim at least 50 yards of front and back crawl and 25 yards of backstroke and butterfly without stopping.
Participation in the “Advanced Tides” swim team is based upon skill level, though swimmers are typically ages 10 and older and must have some experience in a competitive swimming environment. The goal of the team is to further refine skills and endurance with a focus on competing.
Sessions are offered February-May, May-July and September-December.
The cost to participate in each session is $105 for Tidelands HealthPoint members and $135 for non-members. A $15 discount applies for siblings.
