Tidelands Health surgeon accepted as a fellow by the American College of Surgeons
A leading Tidelands Health surgeon has been accepted as a fellow by the American College of Surgeons, the largest association of surgeons in the world.
Dr. Mark Witkowski practices at Tidelands Health General and Vascular Surgery, which offers care at locations in Georgetown and Murrells Inlet. He earned acceptance as a fellow of the College of Surgeons following a rigorous evaluation that determined his education, training, professional qualifications, surgical competence and ethical conduct are consistent with the organization’s standards.
The College of Surgeons is a scientific and educational association founded in 1913 to improve the quality of surgical care. It has more than 80,000 fellows, including 6,000 fellows outside the U.S.
Dr. Witkowski, a general surgeon who offers a broad range of surgical care, joined Tidelands Health in 2016. He earned his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience and completed his residency at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Dr. Witkowski is certified by the American Board of Surgery. His areas of interest include minimally invasive colorectal surgery, endoscopy, colonoscopy and surgical treatment of hernia, reflux, thyroid, gallbladder, stomach, spleen and small bowel disease.
