Teddy bear clinic coming to Myrtle Beach
Children throughout our region can experience the magic of medicine by caring for their own stuffed patients at an upcoming teddy bear clinic hosted by Tidelands Health.
The fun-filled, educational event, scheduled from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, is meant to help demystify the doctor’s office by allowing children to give their toys a check-up. Working alongside nurses and physicians at Tidelands Health Family Medicine at Holmestown Road, 4320 Holmestown Road in Myrtle Beach, kids will bandage teddy bear boo-boos, take their furry friends’ vital signs and exercise with their stuffed comrades.
The event will help children become familiar with the people and equipment they will see during their own visits as a patient, helping them feel more comfortable with the process and environment.
The teddy bear clinic is open to the general public, and there’s no cost to attend. Children are welcome to bring their own bears, dolls or other stuffed buddies. Free teddy bears will be available while supplies last, and children can also benefit from no-cost flu shots.
“This teddy bear clinic is a great way to educate children about the doctor’s office and expose them to medical procedures in a comfortable way,” said Crystal Wilson, practice manager at Tidelands Health Family Medicine at Holmestown Road. “This helps them understand what to expect so they’re more at ease when they come for care themselves.”
Registration to the teddy bear clinic is not required. For more information, call 843-652-8440.
