Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital ranks in the Top 5 percent nationally for outstanding patient experience
Patients who receive care at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital are among the most satisfied in the United States.
For the seventh year in a row, the hospital has earned the Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award, which is based on patient surveys submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The results of those surveys place Tidelands Waccamaw in the Top 5 percent of hospitals nationally for providing patients with an outstanding experience, according to Healthgrades.
Tidelands Waccamaw is the only hospital in the region to earn the distinction for 2017. The hospital ranked in the Top 10 percent nationally in each of the past six years.
“We are committed to providing our patients the same type of experience we’d want to receive,” said Gary Life, Tidelands Health manager of service excellence and patient and family engagement. “Our goal is to offer excellent care and clear communication in a quiet, clean, comfortable and friendly environment.”
Tidelands Waccamaw was one of only 443 hospitals nationwide to earn the 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades, the nation’s leading online resource for information about physicians and hospitals. Using survey results, the organization evaluated 3,489 hospitals across the country on topics such as cleanliness, noise levels, pain management and responsiveness to patients’ needs. The evaluation also considered whether a patient would recommend the hospital to family or friends.
“Patient experience metrics resonate with consumers as they evaluate hospitals and select where they want to receive care,” said Brad Bowman, chief medical officer of Healthgrades. “We commend those hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award for their commitment to delivering superior care experiences to patients during a hospital stay.”
The award from Healthgrades continues a long string of recognitions for Tidelands Waccamaw. Only a few weeks ago, the hospital was named one of the nation’s Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals by iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Tidelands Waccamaw was the only hospital in South Carolina to earn the distinction for 2017.
The facility was also ranked in the Top 10 percent in the nation, the state and the region and No. 1 in the market for overall medical excellence in medical care for 2017 by Carechex.
