Tidelands HealthPoint opens registration for youth strength and conditioning camp
Tidelands HealthPoint Center for Health and Fitness in Pawleys Island has opened registration for its popular youth strength and conditioning camp.
The eight-week camp, to be held July 12-Aug. 3, is designed for middle- and high-school students. It offers age-appropriate speed, agility and strength training to improve athletic performance and conditioning. Instructors help campers develop a healthy mindset toward discipline and competition and teach campers exercise habits that will benefit them throughout life.
The camp takes place from 9-10:15 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 8-9 a.m. on Fridays. The sessions on Tuesday and Thursday are held at Tidelands HealthPoint, 12965 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island. The Friday sessions take place at Litchfield Beach.
The camp is led by instructors Nick McClary and Michelle Dowd, both former NCAA athletes who specialize in strength and conditioning training.
McClary, a physical therapist and the clinical services manager at Tidelands HealthPoint, holds a doctorate in physical therapy, played collegiate baseball and has years of experience working with athletes of all ages.
Dowd is an exercise physiologist at Tidelands HealthPoint who holds a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of New England, where she excelled on the university’s field hockey team. Prior to joining Tidelands Health, Dowd worked as a clinical exercise trainer and assistant field hockey coach at St. Joseph’s College of Maine.
The cost to participate in the camp is $215 for participants registered by May 31. After May 31, the cost is $265. Families who register more than one child receive a 15 percent discount for each additional child.
Registration includes a full-access membership to Tidelands HealthPoint for the duration of the camp. Individuals interested in learning more can call 843-237-2205 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. The registration form is available by going to tidelandshealth.org/strengthcamp.
