Tidelands Health recognized for high-performing health insurance plan
Tidelands Health has won a regional award for its employee partner health insurance plan, another example of how the health system is fulfilling its mission to help people live better lives through better health.
The health system won the “High Performing Health Plan Award” from Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., which administers Tidelands Health’s benefits and wellness plans. The organization was recognized among 100 organizations identified with high-performing health plans at a regional summit.
“Our health plan essentially outperformed similar health plans in the Southeast for value and benefits, thanks to our employee partners’ commitment to health and wellness,” said Jan Harper, Tidelands Health’s senior vice president and chief human resource officer.
Criteria for the award included high wellness plan participation, care pathway disease management and program innovation. In 2016, Tidelands Health added financial wellness and personal health navigators to its health plan.
Harper said he is proud that Tidelands Health is keeping its plan financially manageable and viable for employee partners and their families.
“We’re delighted to win this honor, but the real winners are our employee partners,” Harper said. “We’ve worked diligently to provide a comprehensive plan that encourages physical, emotional, spiritual and financial wellness. This award shows our employee partners, our patients and the community that, on every level, we’re committed to our mission, ‘We help people live better lives through better health.’ ”
In the last decade, Tidelands Health has earned numerous regional distinctions for innovative wellness initiatives, including being tobacco-free, offering healthy meal and beverage options and encouraging physical activity.
For seven consecutive years, the health system has been designated a Platinum Fit Friendly Workplace by the American Heart Association.
