3V Sigma, Tidelands Health partner to improve employee wellness

A partnership between Tidelands Health and Georgetown-based 3V Sigma is paying dividends for the health and wellness of the company’s employees.

3V, a global producer of advanced specialty chemicals, was recently recognized for the success of its employee health and wellness program, which was custom-designed and implemented in collaboration with the health system.

The company’s health plan was one of three finalists for the Southeast Region Gallagher High Performance Health Plan Award, granted each year by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., a global insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting services firm. Five hundred employer-sponsored health plans throughout Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia were considered.

The award recognize the success of a company’s health plan in improving the lives of employees through its wellness offerings.

3V employs approximately 500 people, including 170 people in Georgetown and approximately 330 people at its three manufacturing facilities in northern Italy.

“As an employer, we want to be an active partner in our team members’ physical, emotional, spiritual and financial wellness.” said Brandon McClellan, human resources manager at 3V. “Working with Tidelands Health gives us the opportunity to leverage the resources and expertise of our region’s largest health care provider in pursuing that goal.”

3V’s wellness offerings were custom-designed by the team in the health system’s Tidelands Works program, which offers wellness solutions to employers large and small throughout the region.

The company’s employees can benefit from access to yearly health screenings and programming designed to improve their diet and activity levels, depending on an employee’s individual needs.

For example, eligible employees can take advantage of personalized health consultations, classes and a series of one-on-one sessions with an exercise physiologist at Tidelands HealthPoint Center For Health and Fitness, the region’s only medical fitness facility.

“Every program we develop is custom-tailored to meet the needs of the employer and employees,” said Shannon King, corporate health consultant with Tidelands Works. “Our goal is to help improve employee health, which can benefit both the employee and employer through reduced health care costs.”

Tidelands Works is one of several programs offered by the health system to local businesses. The health system also offers Stronger at Work, a personalized fitness and wellness program for employees, as well as occupational health services and rehabilitative care through Tidelands Health Rehabilitation Services.

In 2017, Tidelands Health was the winner of the Southeast Region Gallagher High Performance Health Plan Award, one of many distinctions the health system has earned for innovative wellness initiatives, including being tobacco-free, offering healthy meal and beverage options and encouraging physical activity.

Tidelands Health is the region’s largest health care provider and MUSC Health affiliate, serving the Carolinas at four hospitals and more than 70 outpatient locations. More than 2,500 employee, physician and volunteer partners work side by side with our communities to transform the health of our region – promoting wellness, preventing illness, encouraging recovery and restoring health.
