Tidelands Health offering oncology services in Myrtle Beach
Aug. 3, 2016
Horry County residents now have expanded options for advanced cancer treatment services close to home.
Tidelands Health, an affiliate of MUSC Health, is offering oncology services, including chemotherapy, in Myrtle Beach.
A new location of Tidelands Waccamaw Oncology, a Tidelands Health Group physician practice, has opened at 1220 21st Ave. That means patients across Horry County now have convenient access to Tidelands Health’s team of board-certified and fellowship-trained hematologists, oncologists and surgeons.
“As our region’s largest health care system, Tidelands Health is proud to serve the residents of Horry County through our expanded oncology services,” said Bruce Bailey, the health system’s president and CEO. “Our new location allows us to provide quality, coordinated care close to home so patients do not have to leave the community and their families to get the care they need.”
Through Tidelands Health’s affiliation with MUSC Health, patients benefit from the additional expertise of the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, South Carolina’s only National Cancer Center Institute-designated cancer center. Patients have access to a multidisciplinary tumor board, a genetics board and the latest clinical trials.
Tidelands Waccamaw Oncology joins Tidelands Coastal Carolina Breast Center as Tidelands Health’s second Myrtle Beach location offering cancer treatment services.
Tidelands Health also provides an array of cancer services at Tidelands Cancer Center in Murrells Inlet and the Francis B. Ford Cancer Treatment Center in Georgetown and is accredited by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer. Tidelands Coastal Carolina Breast Center is accredited by the National Accredited Program for Breast Centers.
Tidelands Waccamaw Oncology can be reached at 843-652-8300. The number for Tidelands Coastal Carolina Breast Cancer, located at 8203 Nigel Drive, is 843-651-3308.
“A cancer diagnosis can be bewildering and frightening,” said Dr. Lee Milling, a board-certified medical oncologist with Tidelands Waccamaw Oncology. “Having quality treatment options close to home eases a patient’s path through treatment to recovery without the added stress of being away from home.”
