GMH to host tea May 5 for all retired nurses

Friday, April 04, 2014

Georgetown, S.C. — — For all the years they cared selflessly for patients, comforted family members and shared their joy, retired nurses in the community will be honored at a tea May 5 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Tea time is from 3 -4 p.m. in GMH’s private dining room on the first floor of the hospital.
The event is being hosted by GMH’s Nursing Administration as part of GMH’s weeklong observance of National Nurses Week.

“Our tea for retired nurses has become a very special event and part of a tradition at Georgetown Memorial,” Nursing Operations Director Karen Hazzard said. “Retired nurses helped blaze the trail for all nurses working today, and this is a lovely way to show our gratitude. It’s also fun to hear their stories and pause to enjoy a touch of elegance with silver, china, lace and crumpets.”

Hazzard emphasized that the tea is for all retired nurses, not just nurses retired from GMH, and she encourages all nurses to attend. To RSVP or to get additional information, contact or call her at 843.520.8426 by April 28.
