Help replenish our community’s blood supply and donate blood at one of Georgetown Hospital System’s two blood drives in June.

A blood drive is planned for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

A second blood drive is set for 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12. It will take place at the building occupied by GHS offices at 160 Willbrook Blvd.

Appointments will take priority, but walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment at GMH by phone, call, call 843.527.7173. To make an appointment for Willbrook, call 843.652.8200. Appointments at both sites also can be made at

According to Red Cross statistics, each year about 4 million people in the United States need blood. The current need is acute because donations typically drop off during summer while the demand rises.

In addition having a valid ID, blood donors must be healthy, be at least 17 years old and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds.
