GHS employees earn national certification as cardiovascular care coordinators

Saturday, August 09, 2014

Julie Pope and Sheila Locklair of Georgetown Hospital System have earned national certification as cardiovascular care coordinators.

Pope, the health system’s director of cardiovascular services, and Locklair, director of the critical care unit at Georgetown Memorial Hospital, completed the required coursework and a rigorous exam to earn the national certification. The certification recognizes excellence in team building, project management, strategic data utilization, first contact provider education and process improvement.

Georgetown Memorial and Waccamaw Community hospitals provide a broad array of cardiovascular services to the region. Georgetown Memorial recently opened a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory to treat patients suffering from cardiac emergencies such as heart attack.

Pope holds a bachelor’s degree in health sciences and a master’s degree in health administration. Locklair has a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in nursing.
