Dr. Gavin Vaughn, sports medicine specialist, joins local medical community

A fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist has joined the medical staff of Waccamaw Community Hospital.

 Dr. Gavin Vaughn, who practices at Waccamaw Orthopaedics in Murrells Inlet, is a former team physician for Appalachian State University, East Carolina University, the University of Missouri and Stephens College. He also  served as an assistant team physician in the Cleveland Indians organization.

 Dr. Vaughn earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Missouri – Columbia. He completed fellowships in primary care sports medicine and in faculty development at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Dr. Vaughn is board-certified by and a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and holds sub-specialty certifications in sports medicine and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
