GHS regional health screening set for Sept. 6 in Murrells Inlet

Georgetown, S.C. — Georgetown Hospital System will sponsor a Regional Health Screening 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Belin United Methodist Church Family Life Center in Murrells Inlet.

The event is one of several that GHS offers throughout the year for the community and includes a variety of health screenings, many of which are free, as well as information about GHS programs and physicians and tips for a healthy lifestyle.

Screenings that are offered for a fee include chemistry-24 blood panel, $20; complete blood count, $20; thyroid screening, $15; diabetes (hemoglobin A1C), $15; PSA for men, $15. Blood panel tests require a 10- to 12-hour fast. 

Other health screenings are free and include those for blood pressure, osteoporosis, hearing, vision, blood sugar and oral cancer, as well as body fat analysis. Qualification information for free mammograms also will be available.

 Participants can pick up a registration packet at the information desks at Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Waccamaw Community Hospital or at the screening event.

Individuals who plan to have blood work are encouraged to pick up a packet in advance, complete it and bring it to the screening. For more information, contact the GHS Community Health Education Department at 520.8447.
