Georgetown, S.C. — Georgetown Hospital System’s Marketing & Communications Department has been recognized internationally for excellence in its digital and print communications and marketing program.
The department earned four Gold Marcom Awards for its Baby-Friendly advertising campaign for Waccamaw Community Hospital, Healthmatters, Georgetown Physicians Services (GPS) website and Healthwaves. GHS’ materials were selected from more than 6,000 entries submitted by marketing and communications programs in the corporate, private and public sectors worldwide.
“I am delighted and so proud of our team,” Kelly Perritt, interim director of Marketing and Communications for GHS, said. “We are a small but talented staff that works diligently to advance Georgetown Hospital System’s programs, physicians and services. Winning four awards in this competition is truly gratifying because it recognizes our design, our messaging and our strategic planning, all of which are critical for an effective marketing and communications program.”
The Baby-Friendly campaign, which was launched in June, comprised billboard, print and online advertising, magazine and web content, and news materials to communicate and promote WCH’s designation as the first hospital in the state to earn the prestigious designation. Healthmatters is a monthly e-newsletter that promotes events and news at GHS and is distributed to more than 6,500 homes in the GHS service area. Healthwaves, which is published quarterly and mailed to about 65,000 households in the GHS service area, features GHS initiatives that are relevant to the community, profiles on physicians and their specialties, as well as human interest stories about patients. The award-winning issue, published in February 2013, featured the newly renovated HealthPoint Center for Health & Fitness. The GPS website was recently introduced and features videos, photos and background information, including education and areas of specialty, for GPS physicians in dermatology, family medicine, gastroenterology, oncology, orthopedics and general surgery.
The awards are the second round of recognition for the department this year. In May, GHS was honored with four national Aster Awards, which recognize health care marketing programs for excellence in quality, creativity and message effectiveness.
