GHS In the Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Walk Oct. 5

Georgetown, S.C. – Come participate in the 2013 In the Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and Survivor Celebration Saturday, Oct 5, in Murrells Inlet.

Registration and events will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the two-mile walk, which gets under way at 10 a.m. Organized by the Georgetown Hospital System Women’s Board, the will begin and end at the Imaging Center at Waccamaw Medical Park East on Highway 17 Bypass and wind through the Marsh Walk in Murrells Inlet.

Pre-walk activities include a vendor expo, a pink bake sale, musical entertainment by Paul Grimshaw and complimentary Shutterbooth photos. Ed Pietrowski, chief meteorologist for WPDE, will be on hand to welcome participants, and Dr. Craig Brackett of Coastal Carolina Breast Center/Imaging Center will kick off the Survivor Celebration before the walk.

Last year’s walk drew more than 1,200 participants, and organizers are hoping to increase that number for this year’s event, which benefits the GHS Indigent Breast Cancer Fund. Twenty-five percent of the funds will go to the Susan G. Komen Lowcountry affiliate.
