Blood drives set for HealthPoint, Waccamaw Community Hospital

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Georgetown, S.C. – It’s vacation season, a time when the demand for blood soars with the mercury. Jump into the donor pool and help save a life.

A blood drive is set for Friday, June 28, at HealthPoint Center for Health & Fitness. If you can’t make that one, mark your calendar for Friday, July 5, for Waccamaw Community Hospital’s blood drive.

HealthPoint’s blood drive will take place 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. in the blood mobile in HealthPoint’s parking lot, 12965 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island. Register online at or call Health Point at 237-2205. Walk-ins are also welcome. Donors will be entered into a drawing for a family pass to Brookgreen Gardens.

Waccamaw Community Hospital’s blood drive is planned for 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Wachesaw Conference Center across from the hospital. Donors will also be entered into a drawing for a $25 Belk gift card. To schedule your appointment, call 843-652-1135 or register online at, and enter sponsor code WaccamawHosp.

Appointments will take priority over walk-ins at both locations.

Wachesaw Conference Center is located at 4367 Riverwood Drive, 29576, across the street from Waccamaw Community Hospital.

All blood types are needed, so roll up your sleeve and come give the gift of life. In addition to having a valid ID, blood donors must be healthy, be at least 17 years old and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds.

Both drives are sponsored by Georgetown Hospital System and the American Red Cross.
