The Heart Truth Brunch highlights National Heart Month

Georgetown, SC – Georgetown Hospital System is kicking off National Heart Month with The Heart Truth Brunch on Friday, February 3, 2012. The brunch will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Staff Development, Room B on the Georgetown Memorial Hospital campus.  The agenda will include a Heart Health lecture and health screenings will be available for attendees. Seating is limited. Reservations can be made online at the Georgetown Hospital System website, and selecting Special Events & Programs for details.

“Heart Disease is still the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year,” according to Julie Pope, Director of Cardiac Cath Lab/Endoscopy Lab at Georgetown Memorial Hospital, “We hope to provide education about heart attack symptoms, what to do if you suspect you are having a heart attack and dietary tips and recipes that will help women in our community improve their cardiac health and lower their risks.”

Georgetown Hospital System encourages everyone to  “Wear Red” on February 3, 2012 in recognition of National Wear Red Day to promote Heart Disease Awareness for women.
