Georgetown Hospital System Hosts Cancer Survivors Day Celebration

Murrells Inlet , SC –Georgetown Hospital System will host a First Annual Cancer Survivors Day Celebration Sunday, June 5 in Murrells Inlet.
The event, which is sponsored in part by Waccamaw Oncology, is being held in conjunction with National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, Inc. events held nationwide each year.
“Chain of Survival” will be the theme for the event scheduled for 2 – 4 p.m. at Wachesaw Conference Center. The afternoon’s events will include presentations from a two-time cancer survivor, a caregiver and an oncologist.
Displays and information on such topics as support groups, cancer rehabilitation programs, nutritional needs, transportation and more also will be available.
Survivors will be recognized during event. Names, diagnosis and length of survivorship will be written on paper laminated links to form a chain. The finished chain will be displayed at Francis B. Ford Cancer Treatment Center in Georgetown after the June 5 event.

Refreshments will be provided during the event, which is free and open to all local cancer survivors and caregivers.
