Monday, May 03, 2010

Georgetown, SC –Sandra Fox, PT, DPT, C/NDT, was recently certified in neuro-developmental treatment (NDT). Sandy treats patients with neurological and balance disorders at Georgetown Hospital System’s NextStep Outpatient Neurological Rehabilitation Center in Murrells Inlet.

NDT is a problem-solving approach to the examination and treatment of impairments or functional limitations of individuals, especially adults with stroke or traumatic brain injury.  NDT focuses on the analysis and treatment of sensorimotor and functional impairments that physical, occupational, or speech therapists can address. In addition, this intervention may prevent secondary impairments, minimizing the possibility of additional functional limitations.  As a result of NDT treatment, the individual achieves increased independence and an enhanced quality of life.
