Clarence “Chip” Miller Receives Orthopedic Specialist Certification

Murrells Inlet, SC– Georgetown Hospital System Physical Therapist Clarence “Chip” Miller was certified as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). Miller is one of 4,448 physical therapists certified in orthopedics in the United States, 31 in the state of South Carolina.
Miller specializes in orthopedic rehabilitation of all types (upper and lower extremity and sports injuries) but devotes a majority of his clinical time to spine patients. He currently works at Georgetown Hospital System’s NextStep Rehabilitation Services Murrells Inlet clinic. He has recently been promoted to the position of Program Development Specialist for implementation of outpatient orthopedic programs for NextStep Rehabilitation Services.
“The certification process reaffirms my enthusiasm and dedication to continue pursuing the highest level of skill with which to best serve the communities of both Horry and Georgetown counties,” Miller said.
Miller graduated in 2001 from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky with a Master’s degree in physical therapy. He concurrently served as athletic trainer for the university working with football, swimming/diving and soccer. He is currently completing his Doctorate of physical therapy from Regis University in Denver, Colorado with a Fellowship in manual therapy.
The ABPTS of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), awards certificates to physical therapists meeting approved requirements. To obtain board certification, candidates must submit evidence of required clinical practice in a specialty area, and successfully complete a rigorous written examination, which demonstrates specialized knowledge and advanced clinical proficiency in a specialty area of physical therapy practice.
