Monday, November 06, 2006

Myrtle Beach, SC - NextStep Rehabilitation Services, a member of the Georgetown Hospital Family, welcomed its first patient to a new Myrtle Beach service location in October. The new Next Step Rehabilitation Services site is the only facility of its kind in this area to offer both adult and pediatric outpatient rehabilitation services.

The adult clinic includes an open waiting room, 5 private treatment rooms and a spacious adult gym complete with a treadmill, total gym machine and parallel bars. Both Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy are provided at this location.

The pediatric clinic, which represents a second location for this unique service, provides adolescent and pediatric patients with Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. This specialized facility includes a waiting area with a children’s play table, 4 private treatment rooms, a kids gym equipped with a rock climbing wall, platform swing, parallel bars and padded gym equipment. In addition, a children’s playground is being built in the rear of the facility.

"The expansion of rehabilitation services to the Myrtle Beach market is predicated on the success we have seen throughout NextStep Rehabilitation Services,” said Bob Leonard, Outpatient Program Director, “This includes a growing base of patients and physicians in Horry County.”

NextStep Rehabilitation Services adult outpatient sites are located in Georgetown, Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island, Andrews and Myrtle Beach. Pediatric outpatient sites are located in Pawleys Island and in Myrtle Beach. The pediatric rehabilitation program is the only one of its type in Horry, Georgetown and surrounding counties.
