Georgetown Hospital System’s Auxiliary holiday fund raiser, Lights of Love, will benefit Scholarship Fund

Wednesday, November 01, 2006

Georgetown, SC - The annual Lights of Love campaign, a popular holiday fund raiser sponsored by Georgetown Hospital System’s Auxiliary, has begun. Each twinkling light on holiday trees located at Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Waccamaw Community Hospital represents a donation made in honor or memory of a loved one.

The Lights of Love Campaign Chairs, Tom Donnelly and Marge Schruhl, announced plans to create a new Lights of Love Medical Endowment Fund. The donations collected from this year’s holiday fund raiser will go to support this endowment initiative that will assist with education expenses for local students pursuing medical careers.

“This endowment fund is a wonderful idea to help support future staffing needs for our medical facilities,” said Marge Schruhl, Campaign Co-chairperson, “We are excited about raising funds to help support college students with an interest in the healthcare field.”

The Campaign allows donors to honor or memorialize loved ones through donations to Georgetown Hospital System’s Auxiliary. For a minimum tax-deductible gift of $5.00 campaign volunteers will send a special card notifying the recipient or family of the gift. In addition, a Remembrance Book, in which each gift will be recorded, will be placed in the lobby of both hospitals from December 15 through January 31.

Lights of Love donor forms are available at the front lobby information desks at Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Waccamaw Community Hospital and at The Boutique at Francis B. Ford Cancer Treatment Center. You can also print copies of the donor form from the website link listed below.

Let a twinkling light shine brightly for someone you love.
