Annual Health Expo Plans Announced

Thursday, September 04, 2003

Georgetown, SC - “It’s Showtime… For Good Health” is the theme for the 2003 Health Expo to be presented by Georgetown Hospital System Sept. 18 and 19.

This year’s event, which will feature screenings, good health information and opportunities for the general public to interact with a variety of healthcare professionals, will be held Thursday, Sept. 18 at Inlet Square Mall, Murrells Inlet and Friday, Sept. 19 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. The event will be held 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. both days.

One of the most popular events is a Chemistry 24 blood profile that will be offered for $15. This test requires a blood draw and patient fasting for 12 hours prior to the test. Other screenings will include body fat analysis, vision testing, glucose screening, blood pressure screening and cholesterol screening, as well as many other screenings and displays. Many screenings are free. There is a nominal charge for some.

Each of the booths will be designed around the Health Expo theme and will feature decorations and costumes. Games, prizes and giveaways also are planned as part of the annual event.
