Get care for many common conditions online and on your schedule. Tidelands Health, in collaboration with MUSC Health, offers convenient access to MUSC Health Virtual Care. When you choose MUSC Health Virtual Care, your virtual visit records can be shared with your Tidelands Health provider for seamless care.

What is MUSC Health Virtual Care?

MUSC Health Virtual Care is an easy, online way to be treated for common conditions.  You can choose from two virtual care visit types:

  • Complete an online health interview: You’ll answer a series of questions about how you’re feeling and the symptoms you’re experiencing. You may be asked to upload a photo of areas of concern – pictures can be sent from your computer or phone. Your answers will be submitted to an MUSC Health provider for review and to create a treatment plan, which may include a prescription if necessary. You’ll be notified when your results are available, and if a prescription is part of your treatment plan, you’ll be able to send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. Cost: $35 
  • Complete a chat visit: You’ll provide basic information about your symptoms before your chat with an MUSC Health provider begins. During the chat, you’ll discuss your symptoms. Shortly after the completion of your chat visit, you’ll be notified when the results are available. If a prescription is part of your treatment plan, you’ll be able to send your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. Cost: $45

Who will provide my virtual visit care?

A licensed, board-certified MUSC Health provider will review your symptoms, make a diagnosis and develop your treatment plan.

Can all conditions be treated via MUSC Health Virtual Care?

Many, but not all, conditions can be treated via virtual care. Treatment is available for conditions such as common cold, sore throat, allergies, COVID-19, sinus infection, urinary tract infection, vaginal yeast infection, skin rash, head lice, tick bite, pink eye and many more. If your health concern cannot be addressed through MUSC Health Virtual Care, you’ll be directed to a Tidelands Health location for care. You will not be charged for a virtual visit.

Can I get a prescription via virtual care?

MUSC Health Virtual Care providers are licensed and able to prescribe certain medications as part of your care plan, if clinically appropriate. We do not provide prescriptions for pain medications or narcotics. MUSC Health Virtual Care is not an online pharmacy and we cannot fill prescriptions. If a prescription medication is part of your treatment plan, you can send it to the pharmacy of your choice. You are responsible for the cost of any prescriptions, over-the-counter treatments, or follow-up visits you may need related to prescriptions.

How much does a virtual visit cost?

The cost of your virtual visit will range from $35 to $45, depending on the type of visit you choose. An online health interview costs $35, while a chat visit costs $45.

Does insurance cover a virtual visit?

Some insurance companies cover virtual visits. Check with your insurance company to verify your coverage. At this time, Medicare does not cover MUSC Health Virtual Care. If your insurance does not cover virtual visits, you will be responsible for the visit cost ($35-$45).

Is my personal information safe?

All the information you provide is encrypted and protected. The MUSC Health Virtual Care terms of service give more information on how the personal information you provide is protected.

Will my Tidelands Health doctor know I’ve completed a virtual visit?

Yes, you'll have an option to identify yourself as a Tidelands Health patient so your visit records will be shared with your Tidelands Health provider.
