We understand. We all know we should be more active. But finding a safe and enjoyable way to add fitness into your life can be difficult – especially if you’re living with health challenges. The very idea of walking into a “gym” can be overwhelming.
Stronger Through Movement is specifically structured to introduce regular exercise into your life – in a clinically supervised environment where specially trained exercise physiologists stay in regular contact with your physician and custom tailor a fitness program to meet your individual needs. Our program was designed by a licensed physical therapist and strength and conditioning specialist, working with Tidelands Health physicians to craft a fitness plan that is safe, supportive and effective.
And because Tidelands HealthPoint is part of Tidelands Health, our region’s largest health care provider, you can rest assured your health and well-being are our primary concern. Tidelands HealthPoint is our region’s only medical fitness center, which means we offer programs developed by health care professionals to help people of all ages and physical abilities safely and successfully become more active.
There’s No Cost to Get Started.
Stronger Through Movement begins with a free two-week program. Once your physician refers you to Stronger Through Movement, you’ll receive the following at no cost:
- A 30-minute fitness assessment with a specially trained exercise physiologist. During your initial assessment, your exercise physiologist will take baseline measurements, including your weight, waist circumference and blood pressure. This information will be shared with your physician. Your exercise physiologist will also ask you about your goals – what you hope to accomplish by becoming more active. Unlike traditional personal trainers, exercise physiologists hold four-year degrees in exercise science. Your exercise physiologist is your partner on the journey to better health.
- An individualized prescriptive exercise program. After your initial assessment, your exercise physiologist will then create an exercise program specifically tailored to your needs.
- A two-week membership to Tidelands HealthPoint. You’ll have unlimited access to Tidelands HealthPoint for two weeks as you begin your exercise program. During this time, you can meet with your exercise physiologist at any time to ask questions or get advice.
- A follow-up assessment with your exercise physiologist. At the conclusion of two weeks, you’ll meet again with your exercise physiologist to review your progress and then choose a medical fitness path that best meets your needs. We’ll update your physician on your initial progress and the program you’ve chosen moving forward.
Our most popular program, Stronger Beginnings is an excellent way to introduce regular exercise into your life. This eight-week program, priced at just $79 per month, includes a two-month Tidelands HealthPoint membership, as well as eight weekly, 30-minute training sessions with your exercise physiologist. Your progress will be monitored throughout the program, and your physician will receive updates on your progress. At the conclusion of the eight-week program, you’ll have the opportunity to continue your Tidelands HealthPoint membership with no enrollment fee.
Designed for individuals who choose to work more independently, Stronger Forward is a 12-week program that includes four, 30-minute training sessions with your exercise physiologist. You’ll also receive a Tidelands HealthPoint membership during your program and then have the opportunity to continue your membership with no enrollment fee. Your physician will be updated on your progress at the midway point and conclusion of your program. The price for Stronger Forward is $59 per month. Seniors 60 and older qualify for a special rate of $51 per month.
When you desire intensive one-on-one coaching, Stronger Training is the best option for you. This eight-week program, priced at $139 per month, includes two 30-minute training sessions per week with your exercise physiologist. Your progress will be monitored throughout the program, and your physician will receive updates on your progress. At the conclusion of the eight-week program, you’ll have the opportunity to continue your Tidelands HealthPoint membership with no enrollment fee.

There is overwhelming research supporting the health benefits of exercise. The American Medical Association has stated there is no better indicator of a person’s health and longevity than minutes per week of physical activity. And a 2013 study published in the British Medical Journal found exercise can be just as effective as many frequently prescribed drugs in treating leading causes of death. By becoming more physically active, you can add years to your life – and life to your years.
