BOLD™ Career Pathways Loan Assistance Program

Tidelands Health offers financial assistance for students pursuing nursing degrees through South Carolina Student Loan's BOLD™ Career Pathways. This program helps cover the gap between scholarships, grants and tuition, with Tidelands Health paying off the loan for each year of service at our health system after graduation.

Key Points:

  • Eligibility: Students must apply and be screened for eligibility.
  • Loan application: Eligible students complete a loan application and contract agreement.
  • Employment: Upon graduation, students apply for full-time employment with Tidelands Health. If hired, Tidelands Health forgives the loan at a pre-determined rate for each year of service.
  • Commitment: All loans require a work commitment, but employment is at-will and not guaranteed.

Associate Degree in Nursing

  • Job title: ADN
  • Annual loan: Up to $10,000
  • Cumulative limit per student (max borrowed): Up to $20,000
  • Years of service required: 2 years
  • Number of accepted approved applications per year: 10

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • Job title: BSN
  • Annual loan: Up to $10,000
  • Cumulative limit per student (max borrowed): Up to $20,000
  • Years of service required: 2 years
  • Number of accepted approved applications per year: 5

Pelvic PT

  • Job title: Pelvic PT
  • Annual loan: Up to $10,000
  • Cumulative limit per student (max borrowed): Up to $20,000
  • Years of service required: 4 years
  • Number of accepted approved applications per year: 2

Cardiac Catheterization Technologist (RCIS)

  • Job title: Cardiac Catheterization Technologist (RCIS)
  • Annual loan: Up to $10,000
  • Cumulative limit per student (max borrowed): Up to $20,000
  • Years of service required: 2 years
  • Number of accepted approved applications per year: 2

How It Works

  1. Initial contact form submission: Visit the SC Student Loan website to apply.
  2. Eligibility screening: Conducted after form submission.
  3. Loan application: Provided to eligible students.
  4. Contract agreement: Outlines payment terms and employment requirements.
  5. Final approval and loan disbursement: Completed with SCSLC and the student's college.
