COVID-19
In the United States, COVID-19 is now recognized as an endemic virus. “Endemic” means a disease that is circulating in a community at an expected or normal level, with occasional outbreaks. The flu is another example of an endemic virus.
COVID-19 testing
COVID-19 testing is available at many pharmacies and physician offices. At-home tests are also available for purchase at local pharmacies.
COVID-19 vaccine
COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Vaccination is the best way to reduce your risk of serious illness. The CDC recommends everyone stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines for their age group. Find a vaccine provider near you.
COVID-19 treatment
Most COVID-19 symptoms can be managed at home with over-the-counter medication. If you are at high risk of becoming seriously ill, your doctor may prescribe certain antiviral medications. If you test positive for COVID-19 and are 50 or older, are unvaccinated or have a chronic health condition or weakened immune system, speak with your health care provider to determine what treatment options are best for you.
