Tidelands Health and MUSC Health: A Collaboration to Benefit Our Region
A New Hospital for South Horry County
Tidelands Health is seeking state approval to build Tidelands Health Carolina Bays Hospital, a new, 36-bed hospital to be conveniently located at the interchange of Highways 31 and 707.
Tidelands Health and MUSC Health have taken a bold step forward to improve health and wellness in Georgetown and Horry counties.
Our health systems have strengthened the longtime affiliation between our two not-for-profit organizations.
In a first-of-its-kind relationship for both organizations, Tidelands Health and MUSC Health have joined forces to meet the health care needs of Georgetown and Horry counties, giving patients enhanced access to leading medical treatment and technologies close to home.
It’s important to know this is not a merger or acquisition. Tidelands Health remains an independent, locally managed health system. Our name and leadership team are not changing, and we continue to be led by a volunteer board of trustees. The same doctors, nurses and other clinical professionals are continuing to provide care at our locations, and there are no changes to the insurance plans we accept.
Tidelands Health has long been our region’s MUSC Health affiliate, a relationship that has helped bring needed services such as radiation therapy and neurosurgery to our community. Strengthening the relationship between our two organizations will allow us to better recruit needed specialists and expand lifesaving services in the fast-growing region we serve.
That means more health care services will be available close to home – so patients won’t have to travel to Charleston as often for highly specialized care.
