Dr. J. Ryan Altman and Dr. Sherief Khalil join local medical community

A fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist and a clinical cardiologist have joined the medical staff of Tidelands Health.

Dr. J. Ryan Altman and Dr. Sherief Khalil practice at Inlet Cardiopulmonary and Associates.

Dr. Altman’s specialty areas are interventional cardiology, coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular disease.  A native of Andrews, Dr. Altman earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Florida Health and his fellowship in interventional cardiology at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas. 

Dr. Altman is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and board eligible in cardiovascular disease. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Dr.  Khalil practices at Inlet Cardiopulmonary and Associates. His areas of interest are coronary disease, valvular heart disease, atrial fibrillation and flutter and congestive heart failure.

Dr. Khalil, who grew up in Dillon, earned his bachelor’s degree from Francis Marion University and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He also completed his residency at MUSC. He is a member of the American Heart Association, the American Medical Association, the South Carolina Medical Association and the American College of Physicians.
