Surgical Specialists of Waccamaw ribbon cutting, open house Sept. 9

Surgical Specialists of Waccamaw will celebrate the opening of its Georgetown location with an open house and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce Tuesday, Sept. 9.

The public event is set for 4 -6 p.m. and will feature light refreshments, tours of the facility and opportunities to meet the physicians.

Located at 469 Marina Drive, Surgical Specialists of Waccamaw is the only full-time general surgery practice in Georgetown. It is staffed by Dr. Robert Brockman, Dr. Sunil Lalla and Dr. Matthew Metz, who practice at Georgetown Memorial Hospital and Waccamaw Community Hospital. 

All three physicians are board-certified and do minimally invasive surgery, including hernia repair, gallbladder gastrointestinal and skin cancer procedures. They also provide comprehensive vascular care, arterial and venous disease treatment and chronic wound care.

Dr. Brockman earned his medical degree and completed his internship at MUSC. He completed his residency in general surgery at East Tennessee State University.

Dr. Lalla earned his medical degree from Emory University. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Tennessee at Memphis and did a fellowship at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Dr. Metz earned his medical degree at West Virginia University and completed his internship and residency at Charleston Area Medical Center – Department of Surgery.
